Ever wanted to fly like a superhero? I will assume yes, cause who would say no??? Flyboarding is the only attainable way to get you there!

I was recently in Grand Cayman, where Summer Water Sports has a satellite operation – SWS Cayman. During my stay I went flyboarding twice. I have been flyboarding since SWS first bought a flyboard 4 years ago and I have only tried it once! Ridiculous I know! A few minutes into my first fly I totally understood why all our staff are so damn obsessed with it!!

The best part about flyboarding is it’s achievable for the average Joe, anyone can get on a board and have the feeling of flying. The very first time I went (4 years ago) I came down thinking I was full hose, I was right at the tree line for sure! Nope….I was maybe 4 feet in the air, not 60…. But that’s why flyboarding is so epic, chances are you’re not going to be able to hop on a wakeboard your first go and get sick air, you’re probably going to rattle your brain and get a ton of water up your nose. (Not that I’m discouraging learning to wakeboard, as we do teach it and are super awesome at it – you would never end up with any brain rattle or water up your nose with SWS)

If you can balance on a bosu ball at the gym, then you can flyboard – seriously you can! Once you lace up the boots, your instructor (who by the way has full control of how fast you are going and can seriously help you avoid any injury) will give you a little gas, which will fill the hose with water that has enough pressure to push you through the water, staying in the shape of a banana, you are pushed out to the water. Once ready stand straight, look at the trees and let the water push you. You try too hard, you fall. You listen to your brain and try to move your body, you fall. You stand straight and strong and don’t think, you fly.

Get your adrenaline pumping with this popular new watersport! Our world-class instructors will have you in the air in no time!

Flyboard Frequately Asked Questions
Q: How old do I have to be to flyboard?
A: 12

Q: Do I need to be able to water ski or wakeboard to flyboard?
A: No, fly boarding is a completely different water sport, requiring an entirely different skill set! (can I say the stand on the dock thing?)

Q: Can I flyboard if I have been drinking or doing drugs?
A: No you cannot, we have the right to refuse any athlete (?) if we believe they are under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Q: What equipment do I need to bring to flyboard?
A: All you need is a bathing suit, a towel and a good attitude, we bring the rest! (If you have your own wet suit, you can bring that as well!)

Q: Is it like any other sport?
A: Flyboarding is its own animal, but it has been compared to standing on a bosu ball or an endo board.

Q: How does it work?
A: Your feet are connected to the board in a set of bindings. The board itself is powered by a large hose which is connected to a jet ski. The licensed flyboard instructor controls the power of the flyboard using the throttle of the Jetski. The stronger the flow of the water, the higher the flyboard goes.
